Chair of the White House Council on Environmental Quality visits Clean Energy Sector Facilities in Silicon Valley
Nancy Sutley, Chair of the White House Council on Environmental Quality and the President’s top advisor on the environment, traveled to San Jose Tuesday, July 6 and met with Silicon Valley Leadership Group members. She toured clean energy sector facilities and discussed oppotunities in the clean energy economy. Chair Sutley's visit highlighted some of the 2009 American Recovery and Reinvestment Act investments and tax incentives that have begun to lay the foundation for the clean energy economy of the future. She talked about the importance of comprehensive energy and climate legislation. She met with business executives from Nanosolar, Cisco and Sunpower. Plus, she had lunch and a Q & A with a dozen clean tech executives.

Road to the Statehouse: Jerry Brown
In his first appearance following the June Primary, Gubernatorial candidate Jerry Brown participated in the Silicon Valley Road to the State House forum co-hosted by the Silicon Valley Leadership Group, Silicon Valley Community Foundation and Microsoft. The purpose of the forum series is to highlight the Republican and Democratic nominees, discussing how they will positively impact the quality of life and economic success of Silicon Valley and California. On June 15, Attorney General Brown spoke about his clean energy jobs plan for California.

The keys to three Toyota Prius Hybrid Plug-in vehicles were handed over to the Silicon Valley Leadership Group as part of Toyota's EV demonstration program. As part of the June 15 press conference, Leadership Group CEO, Carl Guardino announced he is selling his Volvo and will drive the new hybrid plug-in!
