Charles Melton is the Director of Tax Policy and Government Relations for the Silicon Valley Leadership Group. In this role, he works to advocate for regulatory and legislative tax policies that improve job climates and economic competitiveness in addition to developing the advocacy strategy of the Leadership Group.
Prior to joining the Leadership Group, Charles lived in Washington, DC for eight years where he worked for the University of California’s Office of Federal Governmental Relations. In the position, Charles oversaw the legislative advocacy efforts of the University, including planning the University’s largest federal advocacy event. Charles also managed communications and the development of publications for the University’s engagement with elected and administration officials. He also previously worked for Congressman George Radanovich, and later Congressman Jeff Denham, as a Legislative Assistant handling the legislative issues of the federal budget, appropriations, science and technology, education, veterans affairs, military affairs and health care.
Charles is a proud alumnus of the University of California, Davis, holds a B.A. in Political Science, and he currently serves on the Board of Directors for the Cal Aggie Alumni Association. He is a native Californian and was born and raised in Fresno.
