College Day 2012

Save the Date!

We hope that you will join us for College Day 2012! This year’s theme: Education Journey: My Path.  We will encourage students to develop a college-going plan with tools tailored for elementary, middle and high school students.

College Day  started in 2011 as College Day San José, a citywide effort to create a college-bound culture. This year, College Day will reach Santa Clara County.

** The date for College Day 2012 is Friday, September 28th 2012.**

Spearheaded by the San José Unified School District and the First-Generation College Attainment Group, the first College Day in 2011 was celebrated on September 30. The theme for College Day San José 2011 was the Educational Journey.  People from all walks of life were encouraged to share their educational journey with children, students, and co-workers, in order to celebrate, inspire, and promote college aspirations for allElementary, middle, and high school students all across San José listened to their teachers, volunteers, and local dignitaries as they shared their Educational Journeys.  All schools in San Jose also received promotional materials, including posters, stickers, bookmarks, college pennants, pencils, etc.  School classrooms, hallways and doors were decorated with college banners, educational posters and inspirational messages, encouraging students to aspire to go to college.  College fight songs filled school hallways during passing periods. College Day San José 2011 was the inaugural year of many more College Days to come.
