Summary of the IISME Summer Fellowship Program

The Silicon Valley Leadership Group is a proud partner with the Industry Initiatives for Science and Math Education (IISME).  Each year IISME has placed K-16 teachers in 8-week fellowships to provide them with unique, meaningful professional development by exposing them to today’s industry and research environments. IISME provides companies and universities with skilled, cost-effective professional summer employees.  Sponsors pledge to host specific numbers of fellows and identify mentors/managers who will supervise teachers.  By directly working with fellowship sponsors, the IISME Summer Fellowship Program produces well-trained and experienced teachers who are prepared to instill meaningful change and progress in our schools.

IISME’s sponsors support educational services to enhance the effectiveness of Fellowships as teacher professional development experiences.  These sponsors not only provide the necessary funding for the summer fellowship program, but more importantly they provide fellowship postions for participating teachers.  The IISME Fellowship Sponsors include: AC Transit, Adobe Systems, Affymetrix, Applied Biosystems, Applied Materials, Asyst Technologies, BAE Systems, California Water Service Co., Cassatt Corporation, Cisco Systems Inc., Coherent Inc., Dow Chemical, ETM Electromatic Incorporated, FX Palo Alto Laboratory, Google Inc., Hewlett-Packard Company, IBM, Integrated Device Technology, Intel Corporation, Kaiser Permanente, KLA-Tencor, Lawrence Berkeley International Laboratory, Lockheed Martin Space Systems, Lucile Packard Children’s Hospital, Miasole, Microsoft Corporation, NASA-Ames Research Center, National Semiconductor, New United  Motor Manufacturing Inc., Northrop Grumman Marine Systems, NPX Semiconductors, Openwave, Palm Inc., Palo Alto Research Center, Renesas Technology, Roche Palo Alto, Sacramento Municipal Utility District, San Jose State University, Santa Clara University, SEMI, Space Systems/Loral, SVB Financial Group, Synopsys Inc., Teichert Construction, University of California, Berkeley, University of California, San Francisco, University of California, Santa Cruz.
