SVLG’s Institute for California AI Policy (I-CAP) hosts event for legislators, policymakers, and industry experts to discuss the future of responsible AI in the Golden State
SACRAMENTO, CA (March 6, 2024) – The Silicon Valley Leadership Group (SVLG) – the leading business association representing the innovation economy and its ecosystem – will convene its annual Sacramento Advocacy Day today to bring lawmakers and industry leaders together for meaningful conversations on California’s leading role in developing and deploying responsible artificial intelligence (AI).
The event – hosted by SVLG’s Institute for California AI Policy (I-CAP) – will feature compelling discussions on how lawmakers can advance balanced and responsible policy solutions that ensure California remains a global hub for AI innovation. Legislators, policymakers, and technology experts from SVLG’s diverse member companies will share key insights and address both the opportunities and challenges associated with the evolving AI landscape.

Launched in December 2023, I-CAP’s mission is to build the social and political capital needed for developing policy and regulatory solutions that are informed, balanced, responsible, and effective. The Institute has four main focus areas: education, policy engagement, thought leadership, and issue expertise.
I-CAP builds upon the ongoing efforts of SVLG’s Responsible AI Working Group and its work to identify five core principles for responsible adoption of this transformative technology – human-centered, explainable outcomes, equitable, secure, and risk mitigation. The Institute’s work spans all of SVLG’s Centers of Expertise: Technology and Innovation; Inclusion and Belonging; and Sustainable Growth.
